Great work man, keep it up!

Thanks for the support. It's been a long while since I've done any of these crossfit style workouts and my conditioning is pretty bad right now, but I'm on a journey to make myself my best version of me, so I know I've got to put in the work and accept the results. A day like today just makes me dig in harder and want to keep progressing.

Had an unscheduled off day today. Our two year old had different plans for my morning than I did.

Missed my window of opportunity, so I'll be back at it early tomorrow AM.

Unscheduled off day this AM. As soon as my alarm went off my wife handed me our 6 week old with heavy eyes and went to sleep after a long night. I did set a new PR in keeping my son happy and content this morning. As soon as he started to doze off, our 2 year old announced loudly that she was awake! LOL.  I got to spend some priceless time with my kids this AM.

I'll get back at it again tomorrow AM.

Catch-up Day today

Basic: Training Day 9

Run 800m

50 KB swings @ 1.5 pood (55 lb. dumbbell)  [I used 1pood, Russian swings]
50 hand-release push-ups
00:09:02 to complete this round

~Rest 2 minutes exactly~

Run 400m
35 KB swings @ 1.5 pood (55 lb. dumbbell) [I used 1pood, Russian swings]
35 hand-release push-ups
00:05:37 to complete this round

Total time (not including 2 min rest) - 00:14:39

I feel like the first round took a lot of time but that's what the clock said so it must have been.

Maybe the universe is out of sync now that the Cubs won the World Series? At 6:32AM my wife and both kids walk into my little parcel of sweaty solitude to let me know they are all awake. Luckily my wife was cool enough to hang with the kids in the garage while I finished my warm-up and did my WOD. I had to listen to Youtube nursery rhymes during my workout which is not super motivating, but my wife and daughter had fun cheering me on.  We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Basic: Training Day 11

“Fight Gone Bad!”

Three rounds of:

Wall-ball, 20 pound ball, 10 ft target (Reps) [sub'd with #20 slam ball squat and toss above my head, approx 9'-10']
Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds (Reps)
Box Jump, 20″ box (Reps)
Push-press, 75 pounds (Reps)
Row (Calories) [sub'd with burpees]

Total - 230 reps
* I found a burpee calorie calculator that said 1 min of burpees should be 9.3 -11 calories, so I went with 10 calories for 1 min of continuous burpees

I've never done Sumo deadlift high-pulls so I wasn't super efficient at that, but was able to get 14 reps all three rounds.

Basic: Training Day 12

5 rounds for time:

5 Deadlift @ 135
5 Clean & Jerk @ 135
5 Power Snatch @ 135

Haven't done split jerks or snatch in a long time, so decided to focus on form and quality rather than time. I changed the format as follows:

5x5 Deadlift #135
then
5x5 C+J  #95
then
5x5 Power Snatch #65

I'm pretty whooped from yesterday. Glad that I took it slower on today's workout.

Nothing exciting to report here. I've been off the log for a few days, because daylight savings has turned my house upside down somehow. The last three days my kids have been up before 6AM. If only we lived on a farm and I could get them out toiling in the field? I've barely been getting enough sleep to go to work let alone workout. I'm hoping to have my little 2 year-old back on schedule in the next couple days (HOPING!!), and then I'll be back at it, hitting my wod's and posting.

Basic: Training Day 16

WOD

For time:

15 Handstand Push-ups [hung feet over bar in rack position and performed assisted HSPU's]
10 Cleans 135/95 [sub'd Power Cleans @#115]
10 Pull-ups [Strict Pull-ups]
20 Deadlifts 135/95
25 Push-ups
15 Back Squats 135/95

Time - 00:10:47

My plan is to keep track of the wod's that I'm missing and then just make them up at the end of the program, so that I can at least try to stay on my weekly schedule of workout days and rest days.  I'm thinking this program is going to be more like 7-8 weeks for me, rather than a 6 week program.

Feels great to get a workout in today!

Basic: Training Day 18

Strength

Did a long PVC Snatch progression warm-up. It's been awhile since I've done full squat snatch.

Snatch

1-1-1-1-1-1-1

#45 - #55 - #65 - #75 - #80 - #85 - #85(Fail)/#85(retry)

Looked back at my notes and about a year ago I did #100 on the snatch. So I'm definitely out of practice on this lift.

Ran out of time as my daughter woke up early and was not able to complete the remainder of the WOD. Did max rep chin-ups really quick for good measure.

Max Rep Chin-ups - 11 reps

WOD [not completed]

**30 min time cap**

10 rounds for time:

5 strict press 135/95
30 double-unders
10 pull-ups
30 double-unders

Found these Snatch videos last night that were really good for setup and execution reminders.  Probably the best videos I've watched on snatch. Definitely helped me get my warm-up reps in with good form and had the right positioning ques to keep me in a good position from start to finish. I recommend these videos.
