Basic: Training Day 20

WOD

Worked up to #180 LBBS, then moved down to just #105 for the WOD

21-15-9

Back squat @ 225/155 [sub'd at #105]
KB Swing @ 2 pood [sub'd at 1 pood]

Got the old college football beer drinking crew back together yesterday. Wifey was out of town with both kids at a family event, so I hustled up and got my honey-do list done and hit the bar with the guys. Let's just say we may have celebrated the loses of #2, #3, and #4 ranked teams yesterday, and I ate some really shitty bar food to top it off. Not feeling too good this morning.

Question about tomorrow's WOD. Should I be resting between rounds or is this 3 rounds of continuous work with 5 minutes rest at the end?

WOD #1

3 rounds for reps:

60 sec. of wall ball shots, 20lb.
60 sec. of push-ups
60 sec. of sit-ups
60 sec. of burpees
60 sec. of rest

~REST 5 MINUTES EXACTLY~

Nevermind the ^ above, it's three continuous rounds with the 1 minute rest already built in. It's important to read the workout fully!!!

Basic: Training Day 22

WOD #1

3 rounds for reps:

60 sec. of wall ball shots, 20lb. [sub'd #20 slam ball toss above my head approx 9'-10' for wall ball shots]
60 sec. of push-ups
60 sec. of sit-ups
60 sec. of burpees
60 sec. of rest

Round 1 - 84 reps

Round 2 - 82 reps

Round 3 - 76 reps

Total -  242 reps

~REST 5 MINUTES EXACTLY~

WOD #2
[strict pull ups]
20 pull-ups
Run 400m
* Completed this portion in 00:05:15. Daughter woke up when I walked back in the house from the run, so had to pause for 2-3 minutes to get her situated, diaper changed, snacks, turn on a cartoon at my computer and start where I left off

15 pull-ups
Run 400m
10 pull-ups
Run 400m
5 pull-ups
Run 400m

Completed this portion of the workout in 00:11:07

Arms were pretty much dead after 20 pull ups. I'm not a fan of kipping so these workouts with high rep pull ups take a long time.

Nice work !

Good thing you put that cartoon on or the team might have imposed a burpee penalty, just saying :)

Caught a nasty chest cold / sinus thing on Wednesday and have been a snotty coughing mess since. Not sure when I'm going to get myself back on track. Feeling a bit of frustration as this is now a familiar start and stop progression for my programming. I either get derailed for a few days here and there because of life's busy requirements which are all fine and good, or sick for a week right in the middle. I've now completely missed 5 days out of current 26 days of the Basic: Training program. I know that I'll stick to the program and get it all done no matter how long it takes, but I can't help but have this lingering doubt that I'm not optimizing my efforts with this stop/start inconsistency.

Alright, enough bitching about nothing. I hope to be back soon with lungs burning and drenched in sweat. For now I'm cozying up to a hot mug of beef bone broth and hopefully a restful night of sleep.

Wishing you all PR's and kicking butt. See you soon.

Well, life's hectic requirements and getting sick are things that will not go away. Part of the game. It's what we do in between that counts. You are no slacker. You got this. Take it easy on yourself. You'll be kicking as again soon enough.

Wasn't really feeling up for a workout, but was stuck in a bit of a dilemma as I'm the team captain for the Whole Life Challenge that I was running for a group at work and today was the last day to submit final scores.  One of the measurements is a timed workout, so we elected to do a 800 meter sprint. Didn't feel right not showing up for my teammates who have worked so hard for the past 8 weeks.

800 meters time trial

09/18/16 - 00:03:30

11/21/16 - 00:03:27 (retest)

Felt good to improve my time by 3s. Legs were definitely fresh from not working out for a week. Felt like I was going to cough up a lung afterwards.

Strict Pull-Ups 4x4

Strict Bar Muscle Up Work

- Got 2 jumping bar muscle ups, but still can't get a full strict bar muscle up. I think I'm not getting enough range of motion at the top to pull the bar close to my chest so that I can turn it over.

Going to try to WOD tomorrow, but will depend on how I feel after tonights dose of NyQuil.

Basic: Training Day 25

WOD

7 rounds for time:

7 power snatch @ 115  [sub'd to 7 push press @ #65]
7 toes to bar [sub'd to 7 burpees]

Total time - 00:09:01

Had to modify this workout as my little girl wanted to join me in the garage this morning so no safe space to do olympic lifts like Snatch.

~Rest 5 min~

For quality/strength. Not timed.

In as few sets as possible

50 strict pull-ups  -  Completed in 10 sets using red resistance band
50 weighted sit-ups @ 1.5 pood - Completed in 2 sets holding #25 to chest

Trying to get back on the Basic: Training program. Wasn't expecting to have to modify this workout, but was still a good WOD.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you celebrating wherever you are.  I'm thankful to have found E03, GGA and all of you awesome guys who keep me motivated. Best wishes to you all and have a great weekend!

Yeah, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is always a big deal in my house. I would call it my favorite 'holiday'.

Prediction - Ohio State wins a close one by 6 points. Final score 21 -27.

I don't know, I've seen crazy things happen in this rivalry. Teams that I know were more talented and ended up losing to that team up north. We'll see what happens. It should be a classic. There's a lot on the line for both teams so I expect it to be a real slobber knocker in the words of the immortal Chris Spielman.

Go Bucks!!!
