9/21/18pm push-ups (5,10,10,10,10,10,10,10,5,10,10 e30); romwod; 1.5hr training (high intensity)

9/22/18 omob modified (reboot)

  • Snatch warmup (bar, 65, 95)
  • Deadlift 4x225, 4x265, 4x285, 4x320, 10x4x225 emom (ss 10 push-up)
  • Press 4x84, 4x100, 4x105, 4x120 (ss 5 chin-up)
  • Box squat 5x4x175 emom
  • Turkish getup 10x1x24kg emom (alternate)

9/23/18 romwod (short); push-up 4x10 e30

Sometime in the last couple weeks I must have torn something in my left shoulder. Really started to bug me yesterday depending what kind of position my arm went in. Not too bad, but really flared up when I started the push-ups last night.

Spending a little bit of time to reformat my omob plan. With the long breaks in between sessions I felt I might end up spinning the tires when trying to progress. And if I can simplify my conditioning "plan" even more. We'll see how it goes.

9/26/18 omob

  • Light band warmup
  • Bench 100xbar; 4x125, 4x145, 4x155, 4x175; 10x4x125* emom (ss 5x10 push-up)
  • Front squat 4x135, 4x160, 4x170, 4x195; 5x4x135 e45**
  • 5 rounds: 5 chin-up, 10 push-up, 15 squat***

*Final set 4+6 money maker variation

**All with power clean from ground to front rack

***Final set with 2 second pauses

Went to bed early because the wife was sick. Still slept like shit. Woke up at some point and realized part of the issue is the dog likes to push me off the bed and I'm too nice to shove her out of my space. Bench 100xbar not for time; just wanted to see how it felt. Realized after the first 5 sets of the emoms that the push-ups were going to wreck me. All the racks were taken so did my front squats off the floor. Need more "murph" practice. Concentrated on clear movements with full rom. After reading the articles posted by Zodd yesterday (booo t-nation) going back to refine my chin-up/pull-up form. If the weather is as nice as it's been will have a run on the schedule tomorrow. Haven't gone for an actual run in a looooong time...

Woke up this morning with the same bs excuses. No run. It's too easy to tell yourself it's ok, we'll just do it tomorrow...

I understand your frustration Dan, but I still think you're kicking ass.

I find that 100 empty bar rep scheme to be one of the more obvious mind fucks.

Tried it the other day... somewhere between 70 and 80 I started to doubt my ability to keep count... somewhere between 80 and 90 I started to doubt my sanity. It was over pretty quick, but I felt it for the rest of the day.

9/27/18pm romwod warrior; push-ups 5x20 emom

Usually I go full range of motion with my push-ups... like bumping my face into the floor each rep. This time I tried using a yoga block to see if limiting depth would be easier on the shoulder. It was not.

Hmmmmmm. I focus on going to parallel to avoid full ROM, which seems to help for me. Of course, I haven't really experimented enough with it to be sure.

Ye, this might be where I tweaked my shoulder. Or re-tweaked it. In my mind I started thinking if bench press is bar-chest than a push-up should be chest-floor following similar paths. I might go do a bit more research on the "correct" way to do a push-up...

10/1/18pm push-ups 4x25 e2:00; romwod

10/2/18 omob

  • Snatch warmup (65, 115, 125)
  • Front squat 4x135, 4x160, 4x170, 4x195 (ss 25# chin-up 6,5,4,3); 10x4x135 e45
  • Bench 4x125, 4x145, 4x155, 4x175 (ss 50 flutter kick); 5x4x125 e45
  • Cable fly thing 4x5x15 (each side)
  • Turkish get-up 6x24kg emom (alternate)

Eventful morning. Just started the e45 on my front squats and this couple tried asking if they could work in. I didn't even bother explaining, just said I was on a timer and gave them my resting gym face. They went to the guy in the rack next to me and asked if they could work in. And they ended up hijacking the whole thing (not soo bad because the guy they stole it from was jumping around like a jackalope) but would have pissed the hell out of me if they tried that on my rack. Got really interesting when the girl had 225 on the bar... and then half reps... Fucking losers. Got home to attitude because the baby's been waking up early. Not really my fault, but the wife sure likes to think it is. Oh well... what can you do?

Nice work there Dan!

I hear you on the baby waking up early wife issue. The way I got past it was just picking up more of the slack. Cooking more meals, washing more dishes, picking up toys, picking up clothes......etc, just trying to keep the peace so I could have my barely 60 minutes of gym time 5 days/week.
