5k is okay for me now, but any further than that gets into a bit of a mental battle to keep going. I've done 10km once but it's not something I'd like to repeat on a regular basis. That 10km was done right in front of a full wall mirror as well. I'm not the bonniest anyway, but after about 8km I kept catching a glimpse of my sweat soaked face grimacing back at me in the mirror. Not a pretty sight!

And that reflection reminding you that you're not really getting anywhere no matter how hard you pull...

"He who wants to succeed should learn how to fight, to strive and to suffer. You can acquire a lot in life if you are prepared to give up a lot to get it."

Practice the basics as if they were advanced. That's the key to advancing

27/09/18 (lunchtime) -

Swim – 30 lengths x 25m - 19:08

Could have done more lengths today I think, but I have a slight tweak in my neck/shoulder so capped it at 30 with deadlifts scheduled for tomorrow. All going well I'll start working back up to 40 lengths the next few weeks...

Wk2 OMOB complete with the same weights as last cycle. Work and life is still pretty hectic, so not on here as much as I'd like.

I'm thinking about running a few cycles of wendler 5/3/1 triumvirate after this cycle. Basically his 5/3/1 on the main lifts with a couple of assistance lifts for each. It's mainly for a bit of variation, because I've been doing OMOB for ages! I think I can work in a few more exercises this way than I can with OMOB.
If it works for me I might alternate 4-5 cycles of OMOB with 4-5 cycles of 5/3/1. I'll have to see how it goes first......

Swim – 30 lengths x 25m - 18:30

Today was the first day of trying cardio in a fasted state. It felt fine, and I'll see how the rowing goes on Thursday. That would make my intermittent fasting 20:4 for my cardio days, and 18:6 for my strength days. Seems to be working, and I've taken to it easier than I thought. I'll give it a few weeks and re-assess.

15/10/18 (Lunchtime) 531 Tri & FSL, C1, Wk1

Squat (SS with RDL 8 x 35Kg)

5 Reps
52.5 Kg
60 Kg
70 Kg (+) overall reps - 8
52.5 Kg (+) overall reps - 10

10 x 15Kg DB Lunge ss with 4 pullups
x 4 sets

First session of 531, based on triumverate and using first set last. It seems to fit into my lunchbreak okay, and it was a nice change not doing the EMOM's. I dropped my 1rm for this as Wendler says to start low. I think I've judged it about right for this session, so we'll see how the following weeks go......
