I have yet do try the turkish get ups but they look awesome .

I noticed the other night that after front squat practice I was more limber for the overhead , but it could be nothing ....

Nice work Mr Steviesch !

did the above - went well - but left arm waving around in the turkish get ups - need to stabilise the shoulder. Burpee / pullup combo was a first - painful for me. Doing full burpees with a jump up. Then into full hang on the pullup bar and strict pull ups.

finished with a few dumbell cleans from floor to shoulder including 3 each arm @ 28 kg.Was failing at 28 kg not so long ago!

no mike dropping for me - my onomatopoeic celebration :) ..is "ping"...sound of champagne glasses touching!

squeezed in a sneaky dumbell clean and jerk @ 27kg

10 lifts 5 each hand - 2 mins rest and 10 lifts

Timed 5k 18.45 - not too bad for an old guy.

Bad pain on back of heel bone - hobbling today - need to get that looked at.

10th Sept '15

Day off - detuning into holiday mode - off for two weeks - Gran Canaria - me, my lovely wife, my son and his girlfriend - the young dudes are both international standard duathlete/triathletes - I "might" hire a bike and try and stay with them on the mountain roads - on the other hand I might do a few body weight WODS and chillax for two weeks in the sun!

hasta luego!

Hola senores/senoras

I hope I find you all well.

Plenty of sunshine here in the Canary Islands...except for the day I went off piste in the mountains. a little bit lost in low cloud and some iffy route choices....certainly glad of my recently discovered(still pretty unimpressive)) "real world" strength. Sure helped with some vertiginous scrambling on broken rock faces!

Little bit of lite jogging in last 10 days plus a fairly unpleasant outdoor Wod in hi heat. 50m shuttle run x 2,10 burpees,10 situps all times three - v unpleasant...not sure what came over me...heat?...vino tinto?

Came down from the mountains today with son and his girlfriend and hit the track - they are preparing for big triathlon this weekend in Ireland-short, sharp track session required - I suggested 3 x 300m eyeballs out with 3 mins recovery - they took to the idea so I thought it only fair to have a go myself. Not run on a 400 m track in anger for..maybe a DECADE. After a loooong warm up - its my age - I lumbered through my 300m in 55 sec,54,sec,53 sec. I then got carried away and did 800m timetrial - 2.57...maybe three decades ago I was 1 min faster - not sure which felt worse! Son was striding around - looking pretty cool - in 40 secs per 300m! His girlfriend did 3 x 53 secs to stay ahead of me....then they went off for a swim session whilst I collapsed in a coffee/cake shop!

Hasta luego!

Stevie

Thx Guys

Hit the Gym yesterday - easing back into things

EO3 warm up followed by a 1720m on the 30/30 rower.

This is a PR - ping(champagne  glass noise)

was not expecting that - maybe they greased the rowing machine innards.

I quit whilst I was ahead! Wore a big grin whilst jogging home!

hasta luego

saturday 3rd October

bit of light warming up followed by some easy 30 secs on the rower then 1 x 5x30/30 rower for 875m. This is pretty hi intensity for me.

then 3 strict pull ups,10 press ups,15 sit ups,20 air squats X 5 - pushing myself on these for. Time was 8.50. Something to aim for next time.

then 3,4,5 sets at 20,22,24 kg 4 reps(2 each arm) EMOM dumbell snatches.

Superman holds and planks to finish - jog home.

bon weekend,all.

Went to watch our son in 1/2 marathon - He cruised around in 68 mins! km splits were not where he wanted them on second half of race and he "only" averaged c. 3.12 per km for the race - life's tough!

I had day off to recover :-)

As I see it , less than a 7 min mile for a 1/2 marathon is superhero-ish !
