Trim excess fat off 8oz NY strip and season with salt and pepper.

Allow to rest at room temperature while sauteing onions, peppers and mushrooms.

Fry trimmed fat in separate pan for the cookie monster(our dog).

Add spinach on top of veggies to lightly soften.

Enjoy!!

Thanks for sharing

I tried this recently

from frozen - heat oil (grapeseed in this case) in frying pan(just enough to cover bottom of pan), pan sear steak of choice 90s each side then oven cook to desired temp.  Pretty awesome but awful mess when you drop a frozen piece of meat into hot oil....

How is the grapeseed oil? I recently tried coconut oil but I have a tendency to overheat it.

How bout just grilling a good piece of steak over flame till medium rare to medium.  Just long enough to turn the steaks twice, or finish Michelob Ultra.  Pull off grill let sit for about 10 mins.

While your grilling the meat, the wife is making asparagus coated in virgin olive oil sprinkled with diced garlic heated up on a flat bakers sheet pan in the oven.

Plate the meat and veggies.

Glass of Red Wine

Sit and eat

Done

That is good as well, especially with the glass of wine, I guess I just need to find some one to make the asparagus for me though...

I do enjoy a good raw steak every once in a while though.

I like grapeseed over olive - biggest reason is my wife buys it....  Both work fine

We don't use coconut oil much for cooking, I drop some in my coffee but that's about it.

Hammer - grilling is strictly seasonal in WI- unless we're tailgating one of the two best teams on Earth - Packers or Badgers - come to think of it, Badgers open with LSU at Lambueau Field this year.  We shall have to put a wager on that!!  I usually can't muster the stones to grill when it's 15F and a foot of snow on the ground.   Ya ya, I'll tuck my panties in and go back to work....

What NEEDS to happen is YOU get tickets and I'll ride my happy ass up there and WE can go to the game. 750 miles from here to Lambueau.  Hell that's just a day ride.  First beers on me

Good idea, nothing good ever happens, or comes out of, IL.......

You're on - so I happen to have a connection with Badger football tickets - not sure if it will carry over to special games but the feelers are out.  Stay tuned........

I often cook with wine. Sometimes I even add it to the food...

I'm with Vida on this, pan sear then bake in oven. Usually about ten mins at 180 C (whatever tf that is in F...) for a thick piece of steak gives a nice medium rare result.

Lately once a week I've been getting a nice piece of steak from an organic butcher and it's one of the few things I cook for Mrs Jumper. Satisfied customer every time. Nice piece of porterhouse or Tbone.
Ah steak.

That looks delicious! How is the Mich Ultra? I've contemplated trying some but have always figured it would make me crave a "heavier" beer. How do you post pictures like that? I have never had any luck other than posting FLikr links.

Ultra is just fine.  I do enjoy heavier darker beers but Ultra is good for just siting around watching tv and eating a steak.  The wife didn't want any red wine last night so I didn't open a bottle just for myself cause I'd have drank the whole damn thing.
